What is Resurrection?
Resurrection or Anastasis is the concept of coming back to life after death. People fear death because
it’s usually perceived as the end of a matter, but with God that is not the end. Death can be simply
defined as the irreversible cessation of all vital functions of the body for instance the permanent
stoppage of the heart, respiration and brain activity; the aftermath of this usually leads to
decomposition of the dead body. God has the power to reverse and overcome death. The dry bones in
the valley as witnessed by Prophet Ezekiel were in this state. Nobody would dare imagine that the dry
bones would come back to life again because death is permanent in the terrestrial world, but God
through His supernatural power commanded prophet Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones and the dry
bones came back to life.
Another good news is that Jesus conquered death after his resurrection. Our God is a supernatural God;
He’s not limited by the laws of nature. Jesus’ resurrection opened a new chapter where the power of
death was dealt a blow once and for all. All those who believe and trust upon the Lord Jesus can now
experience the power of resurrection in their walk with God through the redemption power in the blood
of Jesus; we have conquered death glory to God in the highest.
We Have conquered Death
Nevertheless, again and again scripture proclaims in praise and thanks giving that through the death and
resurrection of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, he also conquered death and in so doing he has opened
the door of eternal life to those who once were estranged from death. In the book of 1Cor 15:54 – The
sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is in the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the
victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is the silver bullet and the
game changer to life eternity and this is the outstanding uniqueness that separates our God from other
gods.
Rev. 1:18 – And I hold the keys of death and Hades….. Possessing the keys of Death means that the
risen Christ has control and authority over death, consequently this means that everyone who is a
carrier of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ also has conquered death. The devil has no chance at all to
take back this keys from Jesus. Our victory day was on the third day of resurrection when Jesus
conquered death; we have now been made more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.
Great scientific discoveries have been recorded regarding pharmaceuticals that cure certain life
threatening diseases across the world but none has been found to resurrect the dead. Only Jesus has
conquered death through the power of his resurrection. Only Jesus can give the power of resurrection
from death back to life. When the enemy comes to attack your health in order to inflict premature
death then resurrection power of Jesus is the healing power which is required to neutralize venom of
death. Jesus can bring life back to that dead thing in your life through the power of resurrection in Jesus
name.
What is Death?
Death is a bad spirit and if not checked it can destroy life in so many ways. The only way to defeat death
is to engage spiritual weapons to counter its negative effects accordingly. Death has only one agenda
which is to separate life from the body and to cut short the God given destiny. Failure to prioritize the
need to defeat death is such a high risk not worthy taking. The risk of death is not limited only to the
physical body but to anything that carries life and this includes the ground, vision, womb, hope of
eternity with Christ, career and factors that drive our life. The spirit of death can kill your physical body
prematurely, it can also kill your vision, business, make womb to become barren and it can also kill your
intellect.
Dead ground can never produce harvest regardless of how much effort of cultivation, this is evident in
the book of Genesis 3:17 – To Adam He said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the
tree about which I commanded you, ‘you must not eat from it’ cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life”. The ground started producing
thistles and thorn bushes which was not any beneficial to support the food supply to mankind. All these
compounded together simply means that the ground lost its life of fertility and productivity due to the
sin committed by the first man Adam and Eve when they ate of the forbidden fruit.
Many women have remained barren because their wombs are dead., you will be shocked that the same
barren women have such a positive doctors report that shows that they are well biologically. After going
through the the lab tests everything about them is perfect but they can’t conceive because their
challenge is more spiritual than physical. Only the resurrection power in the blood of Jesus can restore
the power of seeing through the healing power to the eyes of a blind man just like God did to
Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46). The blind beggar had eyes but he could not see because his eyes were dead,
meaning the eyes of the blind man had no life. This teaches us that the relevance of anything is in the
life of that object. The Bible says in the book of John 10:10 – I am come so that they may have life, and
may have it more abundantly.
The Need for Abundant Life
Many marriages exist only by name but they have no life at all; this makes the reason why they cannot
fulfill the purposes of marriage. Spouses that find themselves at the center of dead marriages are
groaning in pain, they are full of bitterness and anger against one other to an extent that some have
gone to a level of plotting how they can eliminate their spouses because they now perceive them as a
stumbling block.
Toxic relationships in marriages is a byproduct of dead relationships. The wife cannot see anything good
in her husband and the same applies to the husband. Many people divorce today because the fire of
love in their relationship died long time ago. Good news is that Jesus can restore life back to every dead
faculty of your being through the power of resurrection in the Lord Jesus (John 10:10 – The thief comes
only to steal, to kill, and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it in abundance
Life is the foundation of growth and expansion. Where there is life there is freshness and vitality. Its only
through life that one can remain relevant in the world in order to fulfill the purpose of his existence. Life
in Jesus is more than breathing in and out. Abundant life is purpose driven life; it’s the point where we
acknowledge our maker through worship in truth and spirit hence we stop being busy bodies and
instead we become impactful to our generation in a positive manner. People who are dead spiritually
always discharge negative energy to the people around them. While those who are alive spiritually
through the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ discharge positive energy to the people around them. We
can birth our resurrection power through prophetic utterance just like Ezekiel did in the valley of dry
bones.
Birthing resurrection power through the tongue
The tongue has the power of life and death (Proverbs 8:21). Spoken word of faith in Jesus can activate
life in a dead situation or in a dead person and the resultant byproduct will be resurrection; this means
the resurrection of the dead back to life. Everyone who believe in Christ Jesus as Lord and savior has the
power to prophetically speak a word of life to his situation and it shall come to pass. Positive confession
will always lead to positive energy which inspires life, it’s quite unfortunate that in many instances
majority of people are always find themselves embroiled in negative space in life. Persistent negative
confession can give the devil a foothold to lay claim of our being because our words as believers are so
powerful.
Prophetic utterance of the word of repentance is key to holistic restoration of our relationship with God.
Its only through positive word of repentance that you can choose heaven through salvation. In Romans
10:10 – For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you
profess your faith and are saved.
You can choose today to start a new way of life where your words will be full of positive energy, the
way you talk about your children or your boss or your church leaders matters a lot. Your words have
serious ramification as far as your destiny is concerned because it can either make you or break you.
Positive confession can activate power of resurrection in your family and bring back to life the lost
passion of love in your relationship. Probably you have lost the fire of intimacy between you and your
spouse and the magnet of attraction is totally dead, you only need to start addressing your spouse
positively and engage love language by faith. Positive word will act as a seed planted in a garden, it will
sprout and grow and finally bear the fruits of joy, unity, and love.
You might struggle as you begin to transform your language because the thing died long time ago but
you need not to give up. Persistence is the key to breaking that barrier. Keep on repeating that word of
love and acknowledge positive side of your spouse and finally that will transform his or her countenance
gradually from low to high self-esteem.
Birthing resurrection power through vision
When vision is revealed it gives direction and challenges purposeful living which results into fruitful. Life
giving vision is the basic prerequisite to good success in life. Vision enables you to see the end from the
beginning which then inspires hard work and working smart. Many people walk around today and they
appear like all is well from the outward look but they are hurting in the inside. In-depth analysis can
reveal shocking evidence that many faculties of their life died long time ago. The only portion of them
left is the capacity to breath, eat, sleep and idle around as such they have become busy bodies. Such
persons have no vision that is driving their life as far as their destiny is concerned.
The power of resurrection is needed to bring back to life every dead vision; this is so important because
vision is the radar that helps in positioning the journey of life. God is the giver of true vision. People
without vision cannot accomplish the will of God pertaining to their life, neither can they live a purpose
driven life; but all is not lost because dead vision can be brought back to life through the power of
resurrection in Christ Jesus.
Proverbs 29:18-19 – Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keeps the law, happy is he.
Without vision it becomes extremely hard to see the value that you carry with you. Anybody who cannot
see the value in him or her equally cannot see the value in the person next to him hence cannot speak
positive word of life of that person. Fruitful life begins by appreciating our personality. Thereafter we
can be able to start appreciating great talent and gift of God in us then start refining that gift because
now we can see our end from the beginning. Positive thinking and positive word will then start flowing
from within us; these words are like a river that flows to water a dry land where finally fresh produce
can grow into bumper harvest.
Vision has the power to enable you to discover the real person in you; it has the energy to translate the
coded language of your destiny. When you purpose to become a man or a woman of great vision then
you will not stop at nothing but will invest heavily in things that can help you unveil your vision from the
dream land into reality.
It was through the power pf vision that the dry bones which was revealed to prophet Ezekiel; hence the
dry bones could not resist the power of resurrection after the spoken prophetic word of life was
released by prophet Ezekiel because that visionary word of faith was power packed with life inside it,
the dry bones came back to life through the same power of resurrection after a prophetic word was
made by prophet Ezekiel.
In the book of Isaiah 25:8 – He will swallow up death for all time, and the Lord God will wipe tears away
from all faces, and he will remove the reproach of his people from all the earth; for the Lord has spoken.
Mankind has the opportunity to experience this power against death which was downloaded to all men
by Christ Jesus. Death was the last card the enemy Satan had in place to ensure that mankind will
remain in spiritual bondage for eternity, however the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ
neutralized all these negative plans of the devil. Through repentance now men can restore the power of
resurrection that leads to life eternity through Christ Jesus.
The resurrection of Christ, a central doctrine of Christianity, is based on the belief that Jesus Christ was
raised from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion and that through his conquering of death all
believers will subsequently share in his victory over sin, death, and the devil.
Birthing the power of resurrection through Repentance
Without Christ Jesus we are all dead in sin and the only remedy to our situation is repentance
and turning away from our evil ways of life. Romans 3:23 – for all have sinned and fallen short
of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ
Jesus.
The story in the Bible about the dry bones coming back to life could not have happened without
the power of resurrection when God spoke to prophet Ezekiel asking whether the dry bones
could live again. Prophetic utterance made by prophet Ezekiel activated the power of
resurrection to perform the miracle and it came to be.
Resurrection is the only killer punch that is able to neutralize and defeat the spirit of death once
and for all. When Jesus gave his life and died on the cross the devil together with his agents
threw a party but their celebration was short-lived because of the power of resurrection.
Apostle Paul is writing to the Philippian church about his desire to know the power of the
resurrection of our Lord Jesus in the book of Philippians 3:10-12 – I want to know Christ and
experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead…….
There is such a great power behind the mystery of resurrection, it doesn’t just occur casually
because this power is solely meant to undo and reverse the power of death. The power of
resurrection must originate from a superior source which is higher and above the realm of the
levels where the spirit of death is operational. Jesus knew very well that this was the secret
card which was to become the game changer in the deliverance battle royal.
Jesus was adamant about the third day because it was to be the day of manifestation of
resurrection and that it represents God’s pattern of creating new life and establishing covenant
with humanity. If you will allow Jesus to come into your life today, then God is able impart a
supernatural and divine power of resurrection to start bringing back to life every part of your
being that is dead. The power of resurrection is able to restore life back into your womb from
bareness to bear children, its able to restore profitability back to your business which is going
under, the same power is able to restore life back to your dead vision in Jesus name.
1John 11:25-26 – Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in
me will live, even after dying. Everyone who live in me and believes in me will never ever die.”
If only you believe and say yes to Jesus as savior over your life, then all the power and the spirit
of death which has imprisoned your children in drugs and substance abuse can restore them
back to become great leaders of their generation. Repentance is the key to enter into Jesus and
live in him for eternity. All other forms and practices devised by men cannot amount to
forgiveness apart from having faith in Jesus Christ.
Repentance and forgiveness have a profound impact on one’s spiritual state, particularly
regarding the concept of death.
What is Repentance?
Repentance involves recognizing one’s sins, feeling remorse for them, and turning away from
sinful behavior. When someone repents sincerely, they seek to align their actions with God’s
will and strive to live according the will of God and the teachings in the Bible which is the word
of God. This transformation is supposed to bring about restoration and reconciliation with God
in order to make the individual ready for eternity.
Eternal space is a place where carnality cannot survive, it’s a place where death has no power
and where sin is none existent. The other reason for resurrection power is to restore the hidden
potential in you. Many people are yet to discover their gifts and talent that God gave to them.
Some people are aware of their talents but haven’t refined yet. Any life supported by energy
sourced from raw talent can’t achieve anything substantial. Majority of men are carrying dead
stock gifts which are yet to be discovered and are still existing in form of raw materials.
What is Forgiveness?
Forgiveness, both receiving it from God and extending it to other men, is central to Christian
doctrine. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, believers are offered forgiveness for their sins
when they confess them and turn to God in repentance, this forgiveness brings about
reconciliation with God and restoration of the broken relationship with God which was caused
by sin. Additionally, forgiving others is emphasized in the Bible as essential for maintaining
healthy relationships and experiencing God’s forgiveness.
Impact of Forgiveness in relation to Death
Romans 3:23-26 – For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, being justified freely
by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; whom God has set forth to be a
propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare righteousness for the remission of sins that are
past, through the forbearance of God……
Repentance and forgiveness play a crucial role in how individuals approach death from a
spiritual perspective. Foe believer, the assurance of forgiveness through Christ’s sacrifice
provides comfort and hope in the face of mortality. By repenting of sins and seeking
forgiveness, the believers in Christ Jesus can approach death with confidence, knowing that
their relationship with God is secure and that they will be welcomed into His presence for
eternity.
Forgiveness of sin restores the glory of God in the life of those who are saved and cleansed by
the blood of Jesus, those who have been counted as righteous by God’s grace. A man whose
sins are forgiven is a son of God, this means forgiveness restores broken or lost relationship.
Once the son ship relationship has been restored then the power of inheritance from the father
kicks in immediately. Everything that is created and owned by God the father automatically
belongs to the sons.
Unlike other species, the central perplexity of human beings is their awareness of the
inevitability of death (Baker, 1997), where the inevitability of death itself fosters fear of death
for human beings in both conscious and unconscious. It was the same death that led to the
existence of dry bones witnessed by prophet Ezekiel in the valley of dry bones.
There are many forms of deaths but the only one which is understood by men is the physical
death that separates life from the physical body. It’s possible for one to be alive physically but
spiritual death is the most tragic part of life. Some of the ways in which spiritual death can
manifest may include economic malfunction, social malfunction, mental incapacitation and
many other forms of stagnation in life.
The origin of all disorders we have in the world today originates from the spiritual realm where
man is separated from experiencing God’s love because of unrepented sins, this therefore
confirms to us that man is more spiritual than physical. The spiritual death is what is
responsible for the many dysfunctions in the faculties of our life. Dysfunctional families,
dysfunctional career, blurred vision, perennial sicknesses and disease, and substance and drug
abuse are all but a clear sign of broken and dead relationship with God the father. Men have
got hope in the power in the blood of Jesus Christ and through resurrection of our Lord Jesus
we can live again and experience the love of God.
Birthing resurrection power through the fear of God
Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. The Bible which is the outstanding Holy Book speaks to
this aspect in the book of Proverbs 9:10. Bible dictionary defines wisdom as deriving from a
relationship with God Himself. Wisdom originates from reverential awe and submission to the
Lord. It comes through a relationship with God, redemptively yielding self in will, heart, and
mind to Him. Fear of God is a prerequisite to wisdom.
Birthing the resurrection power through faith in God
The Bible says in the book od Mathew 17:20 – If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you
can say to this mountain, “move from here to there,” and it will move. Nothing will be
impossible for you. Feeling of impossibility has paralyzed so many ideas that were born. Many
vision are static and have remained in such status for so long because of the same feeling of
impossibilities perception. The things that make us feel like we can’t make it are the mountains
the Bible is talking about. Only the key of faith can move these mountains and the lost passion
to move ahead can be restored to the fullest capacity.
The ten spies out of the twelve who brought the negative report were suffering from the
syndrome of impossibilities perception. But the it took two men who had faith in God and these
men were Caleb and Joshua. Through the faith of two men Israelites were moved from captivity
to the promised land.
You will be called names when you begin to live and operate at the level of faith because faith
in God isn’t common with everybody. Sometimes you will fall on the minority side and if you
are not careful your faith may be shaken because the majority is not with you. But you need not
to give up as long as you know that this faith is about the God of Isaac, God of Abraham and
God of Israel. It was faith in the true God that made Joseph to be thrown into prison when he
refused to commit sin of adultery with Potiphar’s wife. There is a need to get ready to risk even
your life if you are going to have faith in God. Faith in God calls for total surrender to God from
inside out.
One thing I love about faith in God is that it will take you places both the good ones and the
painful ones. Joseph’ same faith that took him to the prison is the same faith that promoted
him to become the prime minister in Egypt. Faith in God can move you from grass to grace
within a twinkle of an eye. God will orchestrate that just for him to be glorified. The thief who
was crucified together with Jesus received instant translation when Jesus promised him an
express ticket to heaven because of faith.
I pray that you will trust God to enable you to start operating in radical faith because that is
what will make you standout in your pursuit for success. There can never be too much risk
when it comes to having faith in God. As a matter of the fact the biggest risk in life is failure to
have faith in God; that is a sure bet to destruction. It is faith in God that will move you from
being ordinary to being extraordinary.
Birthing the power of resurrection through prayers
When Lazarus died, everything including burial ceremony went on as usual because people
believed that once dead then there is no hope of resurrection. But this was about to change
when Jesus came into the scene. The Bible says in the book of John 11:41-44 – So they took
away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that that you have heard
me, I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here,
that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice,
“Lazarus, come out!”. The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen
and cloth around his face.
The big story of resurrection of Lazarus was due to the prayer of Jesus. It was through prayer
that Jesus communicated to God the need for God the father to intervene so that the people
watching may believe in God. Immediately Lazarus came back to life and lived a normal life his
family members.
Prayer which is done according to the will of God the father can revive life into a dead vision.
The objective behind the prayers must be aligned to the purposes and the will of God for it to
succeed. Many prayers are declined by God because of the wrong motives. We must get rid of
selfish motives for us to make a prayer that can cause resurrection and restoration. God must
be the one to be glorified in all our prayers.
Birthing the power of Resurrection through worship
God called Abraham to come out of his people to go to a land that God was going to show him.
The reason behind Abraham coming out of his people was for him to find a location where he
would worship God in truth and in the spirit. After Abraham came out of his people and obeyed
God’s command to go to unknown land then he worshiped God with everything he had.
When God saw how much Abraham loved him and obeyed him he was counted as the
righteous of God and God opened the womb of Sarah who then gave birth to a son Isaac. The
restoration of Sarah’s ability to conceive is a sign of resurrection power of life in the womb.
True worship can open doors that were closed so that you can eat with the kings on the high
table.
Importance of resurrection power in Christ Jesus
The power of resurrection has several doors of advantage to all human being so much so that
it’s just a matter of choice to miss it or have. Some of the great doors that this power has
opened in life include:
i. Hope: Resurrection offers the hope of life beyond death, providing comfort and
assurance to believers. Hope beyond the grave is such a powerful tool that demystifies
the fear of death. Every believer in Jesus Christ is rest assured that life after death is the
ultimate reward for living a faithful life of salvation. It is for this reason that the Bible
says that those who die in the Lord Jesus shall live again because the sting of death has
been defeated by our Lord Jesus Christ through his resurrection power.
ii. Eternal life: It promises believers eternal life in the presence of God after physical death
iii. Victory over death: Resurrection demonstrates God’s power over death, offering
believers victory over the fear of mortality. Our God has given us this unique identity
with Christ Jesus, an identity which is distinctive in that no other religion in the world
has offered its followers. A few of those religion that purport to offer haven’t proved yet
that they have overcome death because their founders are still in the grave till today.
Only Jesus resurrected and is now seated on the right hand of God the father.
iv. Redemption: It signifies the redemption of believers from sin and the restoration of
their relationship with God. Resurrection power is a direct manifestation of restoration
of life back to its originality. The power of restoration is the key to neutralize the trick of
the enemy Satan whose agenda is to steal, kill and destroy. Believers in Christ now
cannot fear Satan because of the threat of death because this challenge is sorted by the
power of resurrection.
v. Transformation: The Bible says in the book of 1John 3:2 – Dear friends, now we are
children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that
when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Resurrection
involves the transformation of believers into a new, glorified existence, free from the
limitations and imperfections of earthly life. In eternity, we will not need blood to
circulate oxygen to our muscles. Flesh and blood is rooted in the biochemical world,
where nothing lasts forever. Life based in chemical reactions cannot be eternal. The kind
of flesh that decays cannot inherit the eternal realm where the manifest presence of
God is. There must be a radical change, and that change is exactly what the gospel
promises, in a flash, in a twinkle of an eye, at the last trumpet the dead will be raised
imperishable, and we will be changed. 1Corinthians 15:53 – For this corruptible must
put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this corruptible
shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall
come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
vi. Reunion: It promises believers a reunion with departed loved ones in the presence of
God. The Bible in the book of 1Thesalonians 4:16-17 – “For the Lord himself will come
down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the arch angel and with the
trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are alive and
are left will caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord I the air. And so
we will be with the Lord forever”
The concept of reunion as a benefit of resurrection power for believers for believers in
Jesus Christ is rooted in Christian theology. It’s believed that through Jesus’ resurrection,
believers will be reunited with loved ones who have also accepted Jesus as their savior.
This idea brings hope and comfort to many Christians, knowing that death is not the
end, but rather a passage to eternal life and reunion with those they have lost.
vii. Justice: Resurrection implies ultimate justice, where the righteous are rewarded and
the wicked are accountable for their actions. In Christianity, the concept of resurrection
is central to the belief of Jesus Christ. It symbolizes the triumph over death and the
promise of eternal life for believers. It’s seen as an act of divine justice, fulfilling God’s
promise of salvation and redemption for those who have faith in Jesus
These benefits provide a profound spiritual encouragement and motivation for believers to live
faithfully and endure trials with hope.
There are two types of resurrection power; In the book of John 11:23 – Jesus said to her, “Your
brother will rise again” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the
last day” Jesus said to her I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will
live even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die”
The first one being the resurrection on the last day and the resurrection now. God has given
men an opportunity to experience resurrection now to show case that Jesus is alive and is at
work so that they may receive him as Lord and savior over their life. This world is dying and is in
dire need of the power of resurrection now.
