Brigadier General (Retired) Jim McClain
Brig. Gen. (Ret) Jim. McClain is the National Director of Faith and Board Member for County Citizens Defending Freedom (CCDF-USA), a non-profit organization that equips and empowers American citizens to stand for and preserve freedom for themselves and future generations.
Gen. McClain served his nation spanning a period of 36 years as an enlisted and officer member of the United States Air Force. He completed his Air Force career as Commander of the Air Force Medical Support Agency (AFMSA), which oversaw execution of Air Force Surgeon General’s policies and programs in support of Air Force medical capabilities and national security strategy. AFMSA provided expert consultative leadership for the entire medical service supporting the activities of more than 44,000 personnel serving 2.6 million beneficiaries through 76 military treatment facilities worldwide with a $6.1 billion budget.
Among other roles, Gen. McClain also served as Chief of the Biomedical Sciences Corps, providing mentorship and professional advocacy for more than 2,300 officers in 18 Air Force Allied Health specialties.
Gen. McClain originally enlisted in the Air Force in October 1980 as an electronic warfare systems specialist. He later attended the Air Force Academy, and graduated in 1986 as a Human Factors Engineer. He completed his first Masters Degree in Systems Engineering at Wright State University in 1989 while at his first operational assignment. As an engineer, he spent his early career engaged in the research, development and testing of advanced combat aircraft, missile, space and command/control systems.
Gen. McClain transfer into the Air Force Medical Service, Biomedical Science Corps in 1991 to become an Aerospace Physiologist. As a physiologist, he continued his human factors career now in the world of aerospace medicine and safety. There he served in multiple roles including medical operations, education, systems development, command, and other leadership roles at the squadron, Group, Wing, Major Command, Headquarters and Agency levels.
Gen. McClain completed Air Command and Staff College as a distinguished graduate, and attended Air War College, garnering a second Master’s Degree in Strategy Studies.
Gen. McClain is a combat veteran serving during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, and retired from military service in December 2016.
