The specific purpose of a Champion Group is to help us as pastors establish relationships of trust and encouragement. We all want to be Champions and this is a proven way that for years has been used by highly successful Christian businessmen.

These simple guidelines work.

Champion Groups are groups of (3-4) who meet together on a weekly basis for one hour to encourage, to establish personal weekly expectations, examine past weeks achievements, to discuss growth topics and to pray for the needs of one another.

We open with greetings and a short prayer

Next, we review our weekly personal challenges and share how we did. (Weekly personal challenges are the specific actions I give myself to help me reach my personal expectations. I determined these based on the improvements I hope to achieve within the next year) (click here for Achievement Goals )

When I fall short the other Champions encourage me, when they fall short I always encourage them. We never give advice or counsel unless it is asked for!!!!!!

Then we have a brief discussion of the weekly broadcast e-video message, these are exciting relevant to us as men. (It literally can come from anybody!)

We then discuss our selected topics of the week, these are issues that we select based on our own needs and desires (click for suggested Discussion Topics)

We finish by setting our personal weekly challenges for the week. ( print off achievement plan sheets and keep them in a notebook)

We share prayer needs, followed with prayer and leave energized!

NOTES:

During this time we focus on ourselves as men, we make it a point not to talk about church programs, church events, new church ideas, doctrine, or theology during our (1) hour time frame. This time is set aside to listen, encourage, challenge and embrace positive accountability.

Three to four (3-4) in a group is very comfortable. Five is to many and Two is proven to not be very effective. A small group allows trust to grow quicker, time is easily managed, attendance is more consistent, locations can be any local restaurant or office, and counsel is much better when requested. (Many groups start with two pastors and then grow to three or four)

Many Champion Groups are interdenominational. We hear from many Pastors that a greater sense of trust and transparency is often felt.
