Who is a Champion Pastor?
The Champion Pastor realizes that first and foremost he is a man and that as a man he must apply the principles that he teaches in his own daily life as an example for others to see. A Champion Pastor simply accepts this as part of life and strives to become the man God has created him to be. We seek to build trusted relationships with other Pastors as men through Champion Groups. Champion Groups help to fill the void of the alone-ness that only other pastors can feel and stretch us to become Champion Role Models for Jesus.
We should have a personal quiet time of Bible study and prayer on a daily basis that is for developing a more intimate relationship with God. (Only 30% of pastors spend time in Bible study that is not related to sermon preparation)
We should be the prime example of how a husband should be toward our wife. Everyone should see a pastor who treats his wife as his first spiritual priority. When God called us into the ministry He did not replace our responsibility to our wife, He added to it. Men and women alike should see by our actions and attitudes how great our love and honor is for our wife. We must be her Champion!
We should be the greatest example as a father to our children for every one to see. Every dad should expect their pastor to set the standard. The truth is men observe their pastor as a living role model to emulate. Our children should know that we love them MORE than the other children at church and show it with our actions and words regardless of age. We must be their Champion!
We should treat our physical body with respect. We teach that our body is God’s temple and strive to treat it as “Holy”. People see us with their eyes and make evaluations based on what they see. We take this seriously. As God’s Champions , we should look like it.
We honor God with our finances. We should not be in the bondage of debt. We should have our financial life in order as an example for others to follow. We have no financial secrets from our wife. We are faithful supporters of God’s work with the financial resources that He has given us to manage.
A Champion Pastor has determined that he is going to get his life in Godly order and accept the challenge to “Model” Jesus Christ at home, in private, and in public. We welcome weekly challenge, positive accountability and encouragement from our Brother-Pastors in a Champion Group.
The purpose of Champion Groups is NOT to discuss how to operate a church, institute any program, have denominational discussions, or just join another time consuming organization. We are groups of Pastors who believe that God wants us to Champion our marriage, family, health, finances, and personal walk with God to a higher level!
